ADAS Calibration for Aston Martin models

Your DBX dashboard lit up after a bumper repair - Forward Collision Warning disabled, Adaptive Cruise offline. That's the Mercedes-derived ADAS suite losing radar alignment. We reset Aston Martin systems in 60-90 minutes, using the same diagnostic protocols the main dealer charges three times more for.

Aston Martin ADAS Calibration Cost

Calibration costs depend on your specific Aston Martin model, which ADAS systems need recalibration, and whether mobile or workshop service is required.

Aston Martin ADAS Systems We Calibrate

  • Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking - front radar integrated into the bumper and grille area. Triggers after any front-end repair, bumper respray, or windscreen replacement. Without recalibration, the system either stays dormant or throws false collision warnings at motorway speed.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) - shares the front radar module with AEB. Bumper removal shifts the radar by millimetres. Even 2mm of misalignment throws off distance calculation at 70 mph, making the system brake unpredictably or fail to detect vehicles ahead.
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) - forward-facing camera behind the windscreen. Any windscreen swap requires static calibration with precision targets. Aftermarket glass is a known risk factor on camera-equipped luxury vehicles.
  • Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) - side sensors mounted in the rear quarter panels. Rear-end impacts and panel repairs shift sensor angles. Uncalibrated BSM gives false all-clear signals when changing lanes.
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) - rear radar in the bumper. Parking sensors and RCTA share the same bumper real estate, so any rear bumper work affects both systems.
  • Surround View Camera System - four cameras (front, rear, both mirrors) stitched into a top-down view. Each camera needs individual aiming after any body panel, mirror, or bumper replacement.

Aston Martin's ADAS architecture is Mercedes-derived. The DBX, DB12, and Vantage share core sensor hardware and software with Mercedes-Benz platforms, but Aston Martin calibrates them through proprietary software with different target values. A shop that knows Mercedes electronics but hasn't worked on Aston Martin before can still get caught out by the brand-specific parameters.

The Mercedes Electronics Problem in a British Body

Aston Martin doesn't build its own ADAS from scratch. Since the 2018 Vantage and the DBX SUV, the electronics underneath are Mercedes-sourced. The radar modules, camera units, and CAN bus architecture come from Stuttgart. But the calibration procedures don't follow the Mercedes playbook exactly.

This creates a specific headache for independent workshops. Mercedes diagnostics require XENTRY - the OEM software that costs upwards of £30,000 for the initial kit and £5,000+ per year to renew. Mercedes discontinued the Kit 3 hardware and moved to Kit 4 tablets, which means older setups can't talk to 2025-model electronics at all. Aston Martin adds another layer on top: their own proprietary parameters loaded through the Aston Martin diagnostic system.

The aftermarket tool market is catching up. Autel's Remote Expert platform now covers Mercedes Distronic sensors, front radar, and steering angle sensor calibration. But Aston Martin coverage remains patchy on every aftermarket platform. Most independent ADAS shops can handle the Mercedes side of the equation. The Aston Martin-specific calibration values are the gap.

We bridge that gap. Our technicians carry both the OEM-level diagnostic capability and the Aston Martin-specific target data needed to calibrate these hybrid systems correctly. No guesswork, no "Mercedes-close-enough" shortcuts.

DBX and DBX707: Where the Volume Is

The DBX changed Aston Martin's ADAS calibration profile completely. Before the DBX launched in 2020, Aston Martin was a low-volume sports car brand. Vantages and DB11s trickled through body shops once or twice a year. The DBX is a daily driver. It does school runs, motorway commutes, and supermarket car parks. It picks up stone chips, bumper scrapes, and windscreen cracks at the same rate as any other SUV.

The DBX707 compounds this. More power, more aggressive driving, and the same sensor suite packed into every panel. Front radar behind the grille, rear radar in the bumper, four surround-view cameras, and a forward-facing camera behind the windscreen. A front-end collision on a DBX707 can require recalibration of five separate systems before the car is safe to drive.

Dealer pricing for Aston Martin ADAS work starts around £600-£1,200 per system. A full multi-system reset after collision can run past £2,000. Our pricing starts at £199 for windscreen camera calibration and £499 for a full system reset - same diagnostic standards, fraction of the dealer cost.

The Generational ADAS Gap

Not every Aston Martin has the same ADAS. The generational differences matter for calibration.

Pre-2018 models (DB9, V8 Vantage, Rapide)

These cars have minimal ADAS. Parking sensors and basic cruise control. No camera calibration, no radar aiming. A windscreen swap is just a windscreen swap.

2018-2022 (Vantage, DB11, DBS Superleggera, DBX)

First generation of Mercedes-derived ADAS. Forward collision warning, lane departure, blind spot monitoring. The sensor suite is capable but not as dense as current models. Calibration after windscreen replacement or bumper work is mandatory.

2023+ (DB12, DBX707, new Vantage, Vanquish)

Full Mercedes-level ADAS integration. Surround view, adaptive cruise, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert. More sensors in more locations means more calibration triggers after any body repair. The 2024 Vanquish adds the most advanced suite Aston Martin has fitted to date.

If your Aston Martin is 2018 or newer, assume it needs ADAS calibration after any repair involving the windscreen, bumpers, quarter panels, or mirrors. Check our guide on when calibration is required if you're unsure.

Aftermarket Glass and Luxury ADAS: A Bad Combination

Insurance companies sometimes push aftermarket windscreen glass to save on claims. On a standard hatchback, this rarely causes issues. On an ADAS-equipped Aston Martin, aftermarket glass can make camera calibration fail entirely.

The forward-facing camera behind the windscreen relies on precise optical clarity and exact bracket positioning. Aftermarket glass manufacturers don't always match OEM tolerances for the camera mounting area. Industry data from ADAS technicians shows aftermarket glass causing calibration failure rates of 30% or higher on dual-camera vehicles. Aston Martin's single-camera setup is less vulnerable than Honda's dual-camera design, but the tolerances on a £150,000 GT car leave no room for "close enough" glass.

If your insurer is fitting aftermarket glass to your DB12 or DBX, ask them to authorise OEM glass and cite the manufacturer's position on ADAS-compatible windscreens. The cost difference is small compared to a failed calibration - or worse, a forward collision system that passes calibration but reads the road incorrectly through distorted glass.

We calibrate on both OEM and aftermarket glass, but we'll tell you upfront if the glass quality won't hold a reliable calibration. Your safety is worth more than a cheaper windscreen. For more on what happens after glass replacement, see our windscreen replacement calibration guide.

How Aston Martin ADAS Calibration Works

  1. Get a quote - tell us your model, year, and what triggered the need. Most Aston Martin calibrations follow a windscreen replacement or front bumper repair. We'll confirm which systems are affected and the exact cost.
  2. Book your appointment - windscreen camera calibration takes 60-90 minutes. Radar recalibration adds 30-45 minutes. A full multi-system reset after collision runs 2-3 hours depending on how many sensors were disturbed.
  3. Drive away calibrated - your Aston Martin leaves with every ADAS system tested, verified, and documented. You get an IMI-certified calibration certificate for your records and your insurer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Aston Martin ADAS Calibration — Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about ADAS calibration for your Aston Martin

Yes. Every Aston Martin from 2018 onwards has a forward-facing camera behind the windscreen for Lane Keeping Assist and Forward Collision Warning. Removing the windscreen shifts the camera mount, and static calibration with precision targets is required before these systems work correctly again.
