ADAS Calibration for DS Automobiles models

Dashboard warning after your DS 7 windscreen swap? That's the front camera telling you Active Safety Brake lost its reference point. A 1mm shift in glass position throws targeting off by metres. We recalibrate DS camera, radar and night vision systems in 60-90 minutes.

DS Automobiles ADAS Calibration Cost

Calibration costs depend on your specific DS Automobiles model, which ADAS systems need recalibration, and whether mobile or workshop service is required.

DS Automobiles ADAS Systems We Calibrate

  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go - front radar integrated into the bumper. Triggers after any bumper removal, front-end collision repair or radar module replacement. Without recalibration, the system can't gauge distance accurately at motorway speed.
  • Active Safety Brake - shares the front camera behind the windscreen. Any windscreen replacement requires camera recalibration. A fitting difference of 1mm in the new glass causes measuring errors of several metres at road speed.
  • Active Lane Keeping Assist - uses the same windscreen-mounted camera as Active Safety Brake. Misalignment causes phantom lane departure alerts or total system shutdown.
  • Blind Spot Monitoring - rear bumper-mounted sensors. Stellantis issued a position statement in February 2026 requiring BSM calibration and initialisation after any repair near the sensors. Bumper refinish paint thickness must not exceed 12 mils (300 microns) or three topcoats.

DS Automobiles sits on the Stellantis STLA Medium platform, sharing core electronics with Citroen, Peugeot, Vauxhall and other Stellantis brands. But DS uses unique sensor configurations not found on its siblings. The DS 7 and DS 9 carry an infrared camera in the front grille for DS Night Vision, a system exclusive to the DS premium range. That infrared unit needs its own calibration routine separate from the standard ADAS camera.

DS Night Vision and the Triple Sensor Challenge

The DS 7 is the only Stellantis vehicle sold in the UK with three forward-facing sensor types: a windscreen camera for Active Safety Brake and lane keeping, a front bumper radar for adaptive cruise, and an infrared camera in the grille for Night Vision. Most makes run two. DS runs three.

DS Night Vision detects pedestrians and large animals up to 200 metres ahead using infrared imaging. The camera sits behind the front grille badge. Any front-end repair that disturbs the grille, replaces the bumper cover or shifts the badge mounting bracket can throw the infrared camera off target. And because the infrared camera operates independently from the windscreen camera, a shop that only recalibrates the standard ADAS camera after a windscreen replacement could miss the Night Vision system entirely.

The DS 7 also shares its windscreen camera with the Active Scan Suspension system. That camera reads the road surface ahead to adjust damping in real time. When the camera alignment shifts, suspension response changes too. Owners report harsher ride quality after windscreen replacements where the camera wasn't recalibrated. The problem isn't the suspension. It's the camera feeding it bad road data.

This layered sensor arrangement means a single front-end repair on a DS 7 can require three separate calibration procedures. Missing one leaves a system running on stale data, and some of those systems won't throw a warning light until a specific trigger event.

The Stellantis Security Gateway Problem

Every DS built on the current Stellantis architecture runs a security gateway that restricts diagnostic access. Stellantis operates one of the most locked-down vehicle networks in the industry, alongside Porsche and newer Nissan models. Independent workshops can't simply plug in a generic scan tool and start calibrating.

The only diagnostic tool with full calibration access to DS modules is Stellantis wiTECH 2.0 with the MDP pod. No aftermarket tool provides the same depth of access. ADAS professionals have confirmed that using unauthorised diagnostic interfaces on Stellantis vehicles carries real risk. One documented case involved an AJ Diagnostics box bricking an instrument cluster on a Stellantis vehicle. The module had to be replaced entirely.

DS modules can also carry "soft faults" that don't set diagnostic trouble codes. These lurk after failed OTA updates, leaving modules in a partial state that a standard pre-scan won't catch. The wiTECH system checks OTA update history and module state, catching issues that aftermarket tools miss completely.

For DS owners, this means choosing a calibration provider with OEM-level Stellantis tooling isn't a preference. It's a requirement. A shop without wiTECH access can read basic fault codes but can't perform the calibration procedures that DS ADAS systems demand.

Windscreen Replacement and Camera Calibration on DS Models

DS vehicles with Active Safety Brake and Active Lane Keeping Assist mount the camera directly behind the windscreen. When Autoglass or another glass company replaces the windscreen, the camera loses its factory alignment. OEM technical bulletins for DS and other PSA-platform vehicles state that a fitting difference of as little as one millimetre can cause measuring differences of several metres at driving speed.

Static Calibration Requirements

Static calibration uses a target panel placed at a precise distance and height in front of the vehicle. The calibration bay needs a certified level floor with 5-10 feet of walkway clearance around the vehicle. The environment must be bright, with no windows, open doors or reflective surfaces that could interfere with the camera's target recognition. Battery voltage must be maintained throughout the procedure. A voltage drop during static calibration corrupts the alignment data and forces a restart.

Dynamic Calibration Requirements

Some DS camera recalibrations require a dynamic road test after the static procedure. Preconditions from the OEM technical bulletin: windscreen and headlamps must be clean, low beam on, correct tyre pressure, dry weather with no snow on the road surface. Speed must stay above 37 mph, ideally around 49 mph, on a straight stretch with no sharp bends. The system learns road markings and recalibrates during the drive. Failing to complete the dynamic phase leaves the camera in a partially calibrated state.

Bumper Repair and BSM Sensors

Stellantis published updated position statements in February 2026 covering blind spot monitor sensors during bumper repairs. The requirements: perform all BSM calibrations per service information, complete a post-scan with wiTECH addressing every DTC, validate BSM functionality before returning the vehicle, and limit bumper repairs to refinish only where possible. Paint thickness on repaired bumpers must stay within OE specification of 2.5-4 mils, never exceeding 12 mils total. Exceeding that threshold causes false BSM activations or complete system dropout.

How DS Automobiles ADAS Calibration Works

  1. Get a quote - tell us your DS model and what triggered the issue. Windscreen replacement and front-end collision are the two most common reasons DS owners need recalibration.
  2. Book your appointment - single-sensor calibrations take 60-90 minutes. DS 7 and DS 9 models with Night Vision may need 90-120 minutes to cover all three forward sensor systems.
  3. Drive away calibrated - every DS leaves with a calibration certificate confirming all systems meet manufacturer specification. Your IMI-certified technician completes a post-scan with zero outstanding DTCs before handover.

DS Automobiles ADAS Calibration — Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about ADAS calibration for your DS Automobiles

DS Night Vision uses a separate infrared camera mounted in the front grille, not behind the windscreen. A windscreen replacement alone won't affect Night Vision. But if the front bumper or grille was disturbed during the glass swap, the infrared camera alignment should be checked. The DS 7 and DS 9 are the only models with Night Vision fitted.
